Ah, summertime – family barbeques on the lawn, footie in the park, walking the dog, the sound of bees buzzing… and your other half constantly sneezing! Unfortunately the pollen in our lawns and parks is one of the main reasons for our hay fever. Grass pollen affects a staggering 95% of people living with hay fever. The season starts in May and peaks in June, and again in July, making our lawns a hidden ‘pollen bomb’ waiting to go off…

Most types of grass release their pollen when they’re tall. The pollen is released from a flower at the top of the plant. So if you keep your lawn mowed regularly, it’s less likely to release its pollen. It might be a good idea to get someone without hay fever to do the mowing though! And keep windows and doors shut when this is done.

Another way of reducing the severity or triggering of your hay fever symptoms is to prevent or reduce the amount of grass pollen entering your body. Everyone can tolerate a certain amount of pollen in their body without reaction. But once this amount is exceeded – known as the trigger level – hay fever symptoms will start to occur.

HayMax organic drug-free allergen barrier balms work by stopping grass and other pollens getting into the body. They have been proven in independent studies to trap all types of pollen, as well as dust and pet allergens, before they enter the body [1], [2]. An independent study by NPARU* found that when applied around the rim of the nostrils, HayMax trapped over one third of pollen grains [2].

Further studies by leading allergy charity, Allergy UK, have shown the patient-reported efficacy of HayMax balms. In a 2016 survey, it reported that 80% of respondents said that HayMax worked [3]. And in July 2014, it reported that almost eight out of ten survey respondents said the balm helped some or all of their hay fever symptoms [4].

There are no drowsy side-effects so, unlike some antihistamines, can be used whilst driving and operating machinery, and will not adversely affect your performance at work, school, during exams or while taking part in sports or fitness. And, as it’s drug-free, HayMax is suitable for children and pregnant and breast-feeding women.

HayMax is a winner in the ‘Health and Beauty’ category of the prestigious Soil Association Organic Awards and is certified organic by the Soil Association. In all, HayMax products have gained over 40 awards from various consumer and trade bodies and organisations.

It has been awarded Allergy Friendly Product by Allergy UK, awarded to products that are potentially of benefit to people living with allergy, asthma, or sensitivity and are unlikely to cause a reaction. HayMax balms are approved by The Vegetarian Society as vegetarian and free from animal testing.

Janey Lee Grace and her team of judges, including TV and radio personality Zoe Ball and Dempsey and Makepeace actress and nutrition author Glynis Barber, voted HayMax Best Allergy Product in the 2018 Janey Loves Platinum Awards. So celebs love HayMax too.
