The pandemic has pushed us all to have a newfound respect and understanding of the importance of our health, with 35% of Brits taking more vitamins now than they were this time last year- the most common of those being Vitamin D (46%), Vitamin C (32%) and Multi-vitamins (31%) – recent news has also promoted an 18% increase in Brits taking vitamin D, as it has been revealed 80% of hospital patients with Covid-19 were deficient.

According to research conducted by the world’s first personalised 3D printed nutritional product, Nourished, a third
(34%) of Brits believe they are vitamin deficient with most prioritising good tasting food (34%), comfort-eating (27%) and putting others needs before their own (23%).

Surprisingly, although Brits are looking to make a change to their health, few are familiar with their ABC’s when it comes to their nutrients, many unaware that bell peppers (30%), broccoli (33%) and tomatoes (39%) are a source of Vitamin C and even fewer that cheese (17%), tuna (19%) and salmon (22%) are a source of Vitamin D. The worst offenders were those aged 18-34-years old who were most likely to take vitamins (81% vs a national average of 66%) and be vitamin deficient (57% vs a national average of 34%) but were the least knowledgeable.

Promisingly, 6 out of 10 (66%) of Brits are currently taking vitamins, with majority taking them as part of their daily health habit (69%) and others for, diagnosed health conditions (29%) or aesthetic reasons (8%). Brits have come to rely and trust their vitamins (67%), so much so, that over a quarter now feel that it should be compulsory for children in school to take them.

The research clearly shows that many of us don’t know what vitamins to take and when to take them. On a mission to help find solutions for this – Nourished have created and launched new technology which starts by taking information about existing health, lifestyle, and goal priorities like mental wellbeing and energy, before 3D printing a vitamin specific to the users’ needs.

The revolutionary new 3D printing method and patented vegan encapsulation formula combines seven active ingredients – out of a choice of twenty-nine – to create a made to order, chewable vitamin stack. Each one is tailored specifically to an individual, saving a third (32%) of Brits time, who admit they resort to Google for advice on their vitamins and nutrition.

Melissa Snover, founder and CEO of Nourished said, “Nourished was developed with the mission to personalise health and wellness and uses 3D Printing to do this in a new and innovative way. We believe that of all the things in the world that should be personalised – the number one priority should be our health and we hope by bringing our personalised gummy vitamins to market we can start to change the way consumers think about their nutrition, in much the same way wearable technology has disrupted the personal fitness market.

“Nourished is made fresh to order and is specific to the individual, is sugar-free, plastic free, vegan and delivered straight to your door. It is the first product in the market to offer such a highly-personalised nutritional solution that everyone can benefit from and it’s our hope that Nourished will transform the way people think about wellness and take care of themselves from the inside out.”
